“Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision again the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary.” -Cecil Beaton
The success of your dream will rise and fall on your vision. If your vision is small and attainable, that isn’t your vision. It’s a nice goal.
Vision is a written expression of what we see when we imagine the outcome our endeavor. It needs to be out ahead of us and large enough for our endeavor to grow into. It also has to be communicated: 1. Orally 2. Consistently 3. Passionately
Our vision should be embedded in our hearts and lives so that when we speak to anyone about anything, a little bit of our vision leaks from the corners of our mouths.
It also needs to ignite us and keep the fires blazing uncontrollably. Then everyone in our organization or who is connected to the endeavor, also begin to blaze.
Lastly, your vision must be part of your daily meditation. There’s something amazing about meditation that lends to clarity of thought. The more you toss it around in your head and imagine the ins and outs of it, the clearer it will become. Like a log in the hands of a carver, you whittle away at it until it becomes clean and precise.
If your vision doesn’t inspire you, it won’t inspire anyone else.
